Turkish esports organisation FUT Esports and North American organisation Luminosity have become the latest teams to join the Brawl Stars esports partner programme.
As a result, the two teams will see their emotes and sprays appear in the Brawl Stars in-game shop, with more cosmetics available in the future.
The partner programme for Brawl Stars esports was created in 2022 as a way of creating esports-focused in-game items for the popular mobile game. SuperCell, the developers of Brawl Stars, worked with nine teams to create unique pins and later added player sprays with team logos.
Luminosity and FUT Esports join the likes of Tribe Gaming, Qlash, NAVI, SK Gaming, Reply Totem and ZETA Division, all of which are well-regarded organisations within Brawl Stars’ esports ecosystem. The partner programme is a pilot project for SuperCell, and the company has noted that it plans to include more esports-branded in-game items in the future. The partner programme launched with just in-game emotes, with sprays added in June 2023.
Brawl Stars is a mobile brawler developed by SuperCell, a company also known for another mobile game, Clash Royale. Launched in 2017, Brawl Stars pits teams of three players in several game modes, ranging from capture the flag to football.
The game’s most-watched event, according to data platform Esports Charts, was the Brawl Stars World Finals 2022, which saw just under 400,000 peak viewers. This is more than the peak viewership for Clash Royale, but still a far cry from other mobile games, such as Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
The move towards a partner programme is not unusual and is part of a broad trend in esports. Many leagues, across a range of different games, have adopted some form of partnership, such as PUBG, CS:GO and VALORANT, among others.
