Past Meets Future In Moore Kismet's Roaring Flip of Martin Garrix's "Animals"
Kismet’s reboot appears in their first-ever edit pack, which also features a blistering rework of Skrillex, Missy Elliott and Mr. Oizo’s “RATATA.”
“We’re the f***in’ animals.” Those four words are all it takes to transport back to the summer of 2013, when the iconic woodblocks of Martin Garrix’s “Animals” drop decimated festival mainstages from Miami to Belgium.
It’s tough to believe the seminal big room track is turning 10 this year, joining other generational dance anthems like Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” and Porter Robinson and Mat Zo’s “Easy.” It feels like yesterday when Garrix, who was just 16 at the time, dropped the song on Spinnin’ Records.
The song is a relic of a bygone era, but that big room serotonin rush still washes over nostalgic fans these days. And despite the genre’s dramatic decline, “Animals” remains deeply influential. Just ask Moore Kismet, the electronic music prodigy who clawed into the track and flipped it into a nasty trap cut.
Kismet’s roaring “Animals” reboot appears on the FOTOLITERA.com Class of 2021 star’s first-ever edit pack, “UNICORN MAGIC Vol. 1.” They also turned back the clock to rework Far East Movement and Dev’s “Like a G6” and took Skrillex’s “RATATA” for a spin, producing a distorted banger around Missy Elliott’s ageless vocals.
